Recently engaged? Then you’re probably already strategizing on how to make your wedding a stress-free event. Wedding planning can be exciting and joyful, but let's be real, it can also get pretty overwhelming. At Ansuné Bridal, we get it! We know exactly how crucial it is for our brides to have a smooth and stress-free wedding experience, which is why we do everything we can to make the wedding dress search a seamless experience. But that’s only one piece of the puzzle! That's why we've put together this guide for you.
Below, we’ll cover the basics, sharing several tips and strategies that will help you sail through the whole wedding planning process with ease. From the early stages of organising and budgeting to walking down the aisle, we’ve got you covered. So grab yourself a nice cup of tea, sit back, and read on!
Phase 1: Organising and Planning
Get an Early Start
Begin the wedding planning as early as possible! This will give you enough time to make decisions and avoid unnecessary stress. Just for the wedding dress search, we recommend getting started a year to 10 months before the wedding date! The same goes for booking venues, entertainment, caterers, and so on.
Create a Wedding Timeline
It doesn’t have to be set in stone, but a rough timeline that details the key milestones and deadlines will help keep you on track! Include things such as booking vendors, sending out invitations, etc.
Set a Realistic Budget
Figure out your budget early on and allocate funds to each aspect of the wedding. Be open and realistic about your budget during consultations with vendors.
Make a Checklist
This step is vital for keeping track of to-do’s and making sure nothing falls through the cracks.
Delegate Responsibilities
Ask your trusted family members or friends for help with specific tasks, such as researching vendors or managing RSVPs.
Phase 2: Finding the Perfect Venue and Vendors
Venue Research
Make time to explore several venues and find the one that aligns with your vision and budget. Don’t settle for pictures or virtual tours. Go see them in person and ask all the questions!
Read Reviews
Before making bookings or signing any contracts, do your due diligence! Read reviews and testimonials thoroughly, and ask other brides about their experience with the vendors they hired. Make sure they have a good reputation for quality and professionalism.
Book Vendors Early
Secure your preferred vendors — caterers, photographers, florists, performers, etc. — well in advance to avoid any disappointments.
Meet in Person
Schedule face-to-face meetings with potential vendors to discuss your vision, ask questions, and ensure you have a good rapport.
Get Everything in Writing
When signing contracts with vendors, make sure all details are clearly outlined, including services, payment schedules, and cancellation policies.
Phase 3: Dress Shopping and Bridal Prep
Start Dress Shopping Early On
This step needs to begin several months (if possible, a year) in advance to allow plenty of time for ordering your dress and making alterations. The earlier, the better, especially if you want a customised gown.
Be Open To Different Styles
Try on a variety of dress styles to discover what compliments your figure the most, while also making you feel beautiful inside and out. The dress style you’re fixated on might not be the most comfortable or flattering on your body, so keep an open mind!
Comfort Comes First
The last thing you want on your wedding day is to be uncomfortable in the outfit you thoughtfully picked out! Choose a dress that not only looks stunning but also allows you to move comfortably throughout the day.
Schedule Alterations
Plan your appointments for dress alterations well ahead of time. These take a lot of effort and specialised talent. Also, be sure to book a trusted seamstress who specialises in bridal wear.
Create a Skincare Routine
Find a skincare specialist (if you need one) and start a bridal skincare routine months before the wedding day. This will guarantee that your skin is glowing and flawless on the day of the event!
Phase 4: Guest List and Invitations
Create a Guest List Spreadsheet
Make a list of everyone you want to invite. Be sure to include their addresses, RSVPs, and dietary restrictions.
Send Save-The-Dates
Send save-the-date cards or emails well in advance to give your guests plenty of time to make arrangements for attending your wedding.
Provide Easy RSVP Options
Make it easy for your guests to confirm their attendance! Simplify the RSVP process by providing online options or pre-addressed and stamped response cards. This will make your life easier as well!
Design Beautiful Invitations
Design or pick invitations that reflect match your wedding’s theme. Be sure to include all the necessary details about the event.
Order Extras
Be sure to order a few extra invitations in case of any last-minute additions or mistakes.
Phase 5: Wedding Day Logistics
Create a Timeline for the Wedding Day
Create a detailed schedule for your wedding day, so you don’t miss a thing. This should include hair and makeup appointments, ceremony time, and reception activities. Also, include any to-dos for the day that you’ve delegated to others.
Assign a Point of Contact
Appoint a reliable friend or family member to be the point of contact for vendors on the wedding day. This could also be your wedding planner, but you might want to still assign someone close to you to interface with the wedding planner as well. This way you can fully enjoy your wedding experience and not stress over the arrangements.
Prepare an Emergency Kit
Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it. Make sure to pack a small bag with essentials — safety pins, stain remover, a sewing kit, tissues, extra toiletries, and any necessary medications.
Plan the Transportation
Arrange transportation for you and your groom and your wedding party to guarantee that everyone arrives at the ceremony and reception on time. No excuses!
Always Have a Backup Plan
If you're having an outdoor wedding, a backup plan is particularly important! Make sure you have a strategy in place in case of bad weather.
Chapter 6: Managing Wedding Day Stress
Make Self-Care a Priority
Take plenty of time for yourself on the days leading up to the wedding. Go to a spa, get a massage, and do things that help you relax and unwind. There will be enough excitement going on and emotions will be heightened, so this step is crucial!
Stay Hydrated and Nourished
Drink plenty of water and eat regular meals throughout the day to maintain your energy levels. You want to be a blushing bride, not a fainting bride!
Know What Brings You Calm
There’s no denying that you’ll get overwhelmed at some point. Knowing what helps you calm down in times of stress will be useful. Whether it’s a quick meditation, a calming song, a Bible verse, or a lucky amulet, be sure to have it on hand. Take deep breaths to calm your mind and recenter.
Embrace Imperfection
Loosen your grip and make peace with knowing that not everything will go exactly as planned. Embrace any imperfections and focus on the wonderful memories you’ll create.
Phase 7: Enjoy the Journey
Make the Most Out of Pre-Wedding Events
Pre-wedding events such as engagement parties and bridal showers are also part of the entire experience. Be sure to enjoy them just as much as you plan on enjoying your wedding day! Don’t let the stress of the planning take over.
Create Memories
Be sure to document all the special moments throughout the wedding planning process, from dress fittings to cake tastings!
Hire a Wedding Planner or a Day-of Coordinator
Consider hiring a professional to can handle logistics and ensure everything runs smoothly.
Trust Your Vendors
Remember that you’ve done your homework and chosen experienced professionals to bring your vision to life. Trust their expertise and let them do what they do best.
